Christian Eriksen, a midfielder for Manchester United, has come under fire from ex-player Roy Keane for remarks he made following last month's Europa League match.
In Erik ten Hag's first encounter in Europe this season, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Twente, a top-division team from Holland. Their season has gotten off to a bad start.
Eriksen scored the only goal of the game for Manchester United and was named to Erik ten Hag's starting eleven.
After the game, Eriksen voiced his displeasure, claiming that United fell short and that the Dutch team appeared more motivated to win than United.
This, in his opinion, was unfair.
Recalling the FC Twente game, Keane said to The Overlap, "I even go back to that stage when the players came out after the match and said, 'I think they might have wanted it more than us.'"
Eriksen had another terrible performance, and Keane felt like giving up at that point.
You don't say it, you idiot, even if you feel that way, and it has happened when you believed they wanted it more than you, do you? Now he's coming out after the game, and I'm staring at him.
