In his transfer request to Barcelona, Marcus Rashford, an attacker for Manchester United, has asked to play a more prominent position.
El Nacional, a news agency in Catalonia, reports that Rashford will only join the Catalan club if manager Hansi Flick assures him a substantial part in the team.
The England international has his heart set on playing in the 2026 World Cup and will not be content with a bench position.
According to the report, the 27-year-old is allegedly prepared to reject a transfer to the LaLiga champions unless they promise him a significant role in the forthcoming season.
After Flick's team was unable to recruit Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, the Blaugrana's pursuit of Rashford becomes more plausible.
Having said that, Rashford is the first pick for Barcelona, while Luis Diaz of Liverpool is reportedly their second choice.
Barça will have competition for Diaz from Bayern Munich, the defending Bundesliga winners.
