Victony explains how a vehicle accident inspired her parents to back her singing career

The story of how Anthony Ebuka Victor, better known as Victony, a Nigerian singer, got his parents to back his music career begins with a vehicle accident.

A horrific accident in April 2021 claimed the life of one and injured three others, including the 'Soweto' hitmaker.

In an interview with the podcast Behind The Prestige, he opened up about how his parents wanted him to finish school and become an engineer rather than a musician.

He said that following his vehicle accident in 2021, their viewpoint changed because of the overwhelming public support he received, which helped them understand the significance of music in his life.

Right from the start, my parents were against my pursuing music. He explained that while they didn't explicitly urge him to stop, they also weren't entirely on board with it.

The plan all along was for me to get my engineering degree.

“However, following my accident in 2021 and witnessing the profound influence I had on individuals, with social media posts like 'pray for Victony,' they came to understand the significance of my music career and granted me the freedom to pursue it as I pleased.”

Thanks to his work with Mayorkun on the smash single "Holy Father," Victony only recently rose to fame.

His record deal is with Tobi Mohammed's (a Nigerian music executive) Mainland Block Party.

Victony called his accident a "blessing in disguise" in 2023.

Additionally, he discussed his health issues, saying that he has had four surgeries following the event.
