Kate Henshaw, an activist and actress from Nigeria, has spoken out about her anger at the country's current situation.
The majority of Nigerians, according to Henshaw, do not care about the country's 26 years of continuous democracy, and the evidence of this is nonexistent.
On the special Democracy Day programme on Channels Television, the actress expressed her views.
In the actress's opinion, the failure of democratic rule to meet the needs of its citizens renders its permanence meaningless.
What good is democracy in Nigeria if it doesn't affect the lives of its citizens, the actress asked.
She went on to say, "Every part of the economy has been in shambles, and there is no middle class. We can't lie to ourselves any longer."
She warned that Nigerians are "barely holding on by the skin of their teeth" as the world around them collapses.
Nonetheless, she urged the people of Nigeria to keep fighting and demanded that all levels of government be investigated.
