Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tolanibaj has offered some important advice to those who are considering applying for the upcoming tenth season of the popular reality TV show.
Keeping in mind that Big Brother Nigerian housemates are not necessarily pals, the former reality star advised BBNaija S10 contestants to keep that in mind.
In addition, she emphasised the need of dressing appropriately, having a strategy for life beyond the program, and being yourself on the show.
Video message uploaded on Tolanibaj's TikTok channel features her stating, "Things to know before you go into the Big Brother House:"
"Be authentic. That's number one. Just don't be dull when you're there. It will be greatly disliked by Nigerians. It won't work out for you in the way you expect.
Second, try to dress formally every day. Being in the Big Brother house will feel very much like being in a house.
However, it's more than just a home. Why am I even expected to dress up some of the time? It's merely a residence.
No, darling. Always keep in mind that this is only a performance and an opportunity to promote oneself to fashion companies.
Ladies, apply your makeup daily. Just like the girls, the guys leak daily.
Remember to bring your own clothes to the Saturday night events, even if they will provide you with attire. This way, you can try on your own clothes if you're not a fan of what they have to offer.
Your roommates are not always your buddies, which brings me to my third point. You won't automatically become buddies just because you're house sitting for a month, two months, or three months.
You all work together as teammates and coworkers. They do not support you. It would be awesome and fortunate if you could leave the Big Brother house with a friendship intact.
You are fortunate to have made genuine pals among the housemates. You two were never buddies, so don't be surprised if you notice a shift in vibe when you emerge.
Get in touch with the people who know you best—your true friends and family. True friends are not those who live in your home.
The fourth piece of advice is to plan out your post-show activities in advance. No one from the show's organisers will care about you after the performance, so give it your all.
The world is waiting for you when you emerge, and it's up to you to figure out what life is all about. It will come, but it won't come right away if you're planning to use the money you won on the show to start a new chapter in your life.
You can receive a weekly payout of N200,000 to N500,000 if you win 10, 6, or 20 million. Prepare, but don't rely on that cash.
And lastly, the show doesn't end until after the show.
When the show ends, whether you were evicted or not, it's even sweeter if you were the winner. Life goes on even if you don't come out on top.
What matters is not your level of performance during the game, but rather your actions following the show.
