Gary Pallister, a legend at Manchester United, has blasted Arsene Wenger, a former leader of Arsenal, for his remarks regarding the Champions League and the Europa League.

Pallister thinks the incentive is fair and ought not to be altered because it benefits all teams.

According to Pallister's account to William Hill, the ex-Arsenal manager possesses "a few strange ideas," some of which are detrimental to the sport of football.

"[Wenger is stating that] it requires examination. I mean, I'm having a hard time with it. The fact that qualifying for the Champions League is possible after winning the Europa League is fantastic.

"I get what he's saying; obviously, you want to finish high in your domestic league. But I'm not sure about that one." For Europa League clubs, it's a fantastic incentive.

In my opinion, Wenger has some peculiar views. A few of them are outstanding. This season will not see any changes if any are made. That should be discussed by those in charge.

In my opinion, they will keep it unchanged. It's a huge perk for the players who won't be participating in the Champions League. I’d keep it the way it is.”

Two English teams, Tottenham and Manchester United, are in the thick of things this season in terms of advancing to the UEFA Europa League final.

Both sides lead their semifinal after the first leg and will play the second leg on Thursday, May 8. In the Premier League, they are currently in the fifteenth and sixteenth spots, correspondingly.

Wenger has spoken out against the idea of the Europa League champions receiving an automatic berth in the UEFA Champions League.
