On the occasion of Nigeria's 64th anniversary of independence, Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, stated that the government's priority is the youth of the country.
In an interview with Voice of Nigeria, the Minister revealed this and explained that the country's future security is the reason behind it.
At the conclusion of a special procession at the State House, which served as the culmination of celebrations commemorating this year's independence anniversary, Buhari made the proclamation while speaking with Voice of Nigeria.
In reference to the 30-day youth conference that the Nigerian leader brought up in his Tuesday national day broadcast, the information minister emphasized that the president had admirable plans for the youth from the moment he took office, as he recognizes their importance in nation building.
Remember that the president has also instituted numerous youth-centric programs? There's the students' loan, there's the youth entrepreneurship program, and all these other initiatives aimed at the youth. The youth are the country's future, and the president believes that in order for everyone to succeed, we must prioritize them.
He emphasized that everyone's belief in the eventual unity of Nigeria and its positive impact on the country.
The President, as the nation's father, knows how important it is for his children to communicate with one another, which is why the scheduled summit was convened, according to Atiku Bagudu, his counterpart in the budget and national planning department.
As a father understands, his children are the ones who will lead the country in the future and maintain his legacy, and the president is no different. The president wants our youth to stay connected and remember that they need to be able to compete on a global scale if they want to be our representatives.
The minister added that the policies being implemented to make them proud of their nation should equip them to face any challenge.
Both ministers stressed how important the Independence Day celebration in 2024 will be.
For Idris, it was "wonderful" to witness Nigerians from all walks of life together in one place, putting aside their fleeting problems for the moment.
"Their faith in our nation, their backing of the president and the administration's policies, and their strength in the face of adversity demonstrate that Nigeria is a resilient nation, and we will overcome these obstacles by working together to achieve the prosperity our president has promised. With God's help, we will succeed."
In his remarks to the country today, the president made it clear that he believes in Nigeria, according to Bagudu. The spirit of hope is mirrored in the procession we saw here. It seems like every day brings new successes for the security agencies.
"Together, we are stronger; we can accomplish more," was the message communicated by the cultural troupe's showcase performance here today.
Thursday, September 26th, began with a global press conference, continued with a special Jumma'at prayer and an interdenominational church service, culminated with a special parade organized by the Presidential Guards Brigade, and was the first day of activities marking this year's Independence Day celebration.
