In seven states in the northwest of Nigeria, the National Coordinating Council Global Obidients Movement—which is part of the Labour Party (LP)—has successfully registered more than 22 million voters in its database.
Under the auspices of the Labour Party (LP), the National Coordinating Council Global Obidients Movement is actively supporting and advancing the policies of Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate for the 2023 general election.
During the inauguration of the Obibitient Movement's registration advocacy in Kano, North West Nigeria, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the movement's temporary national coordinator, made the announcement.
According to Tanko, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has well-defined policies that would ensure everyone has a fair shot at success.
He stressed that the goal of the Obedient Global Movement is to inspire a new sense of national pride by making each individual responsible for the advancement of their country.
"A society where every person feels valued, respected, and protected can be built by encouraging social cohesiveness."
According to Tanko, the Obidient worldwide movement registration represents a new chapter "in our collective journey as a nation and our objectives and collective will, remains stronger than ever before."
His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi and Dr. Yusuf Datti-Baba Ahmad, two individuals with a stellar reputation for honesty and competence, came to the fore as leaders of the Obidient Movement as a result of this group's combined efforts. All Nigerians, but notably the younger generation, united in their millions to speak with a single voice, transcending barriers of race, class, and ideology, marking a first in our nation's history.
We needed to consolidate our organization and capitalize on our gains. This led to the establishment of the Obidients Movement's National Coordinating Council and my acceptance of the position of Interim National Coordinator for the movement on a global scale.
"With a total of 22,672,373 registered voters—out of a total of 96,303,016 in Nigeria—the North West zone—which happens to be my home zone—will begin this consolidation process after some consultation. The zone includes the seven states of Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Sokoto.
He continued by saying that the Northwest zone is falling behind in terms of infrastructure development and social amenities, leading to terrible poverty and lethal insecurity, despite the region's prospects and voting power. This, he says, is a degeneration that needs to be stopped.
Our nation's goals and unity are stronger than ever before, and today is the beginning of a new chapter in that history, my fellow Obidients.
"Together, we can stop the downward spiral of ignorance, break the cycle of poverty, and create a better future for our children and all those who come after us.
Tanko encouraged his fellow countrymen to hop on the Obedient global movement train and help build Nigeria's economy.
