After a difficult experience in Libya for their return Group D match in the AFCON 2025 qualification, the Super Eagles have been warmly welcomed back to Nigeria by the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh.
On behalf of President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, the Minister personally met the national team at Abuja airport yesterday night.
He informed the Super Eagles players that they had a near-death experience in Libya.
Thanking the squad for their maturity and perseverance during the period, Enoh commended their ability to overcome challenges.
In his address to the group, Enoh characterized what had transpired as a "near-death experience" lasting approximately twenty hours.
This matter affected the whole nation.
You handled yourself with great maturity and strength despite the difficulties you faced in Libya.
It is with deep appreciation that I return the team's warm welcome home and convey the President's and the people of Nigeria's admiration for all that they have done, both on and off the field.
As the national team continues their preparations for the AFCON 2025 competition, I want to reiterate the government's commitment to providing ongoing support.
"At this very moment, our utmost concern is ensuring your safety.
We are delighted to see you finished," he added.
