Andres Iniesta, a former midfielder for Spain, has stated that he does not regret not being named Ballon d'Or winner.
At the age of40, Iniesta plans to hang up his cleats.
During his career, he has won not one but two European Championships, as well as a number of LaLiga championships.
Iniesta scored the game-winning goal in the 2010 World Cup, but that didn't make him the greatest footballer in the world.
Still, he claims that being in the top three for the Ballon d'Or—along with Xavi Hernandez and Lionel Messi, two of his former Barcelona teammates—is something of which he is pleased.
"The biggest prize of that day, of that moment," Iniesta stated, referring to the photo of himself, Xavi, and Leo Messi on the podium of the Ballon d'or. Our three La Masia boys.
Whoever won it, I think it's worth even more.
