Ending Their 21-Year Title Drought: Arsenal's Confidence

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka claimed following Tuesday's 2-0 Champions League victory over Ligue 1 winners Paris St. Germain that his team has what it takes to finally win the Premier League after a 21-year drought.

After finishing in second place in 2022–23, Arsenal led the Premier League title race all the way to the end of last season before falling short against Manchester City.

With goals from Kai Havertz and Saka, the north London side showed they belong in the title hunt against PSG, a French powerhouse, and are now in the thick of things in the league. They are currently in third place.

"I don't want to put too much pressure on us, but I do think that this is the year (that we can win the title)," Saka told CBS Sports.

"It has been a tight race the past two years, and I'm sure it will be even tighter this year. Fingers crossed."

Saka, who has become an integral part of Arsenal's team and led the league in scoring last season, expressed his desire for more success after reflecting on the club's near-misses.

In the past, I've finished in second place several times. The 23-year-old expressed his desire to win this season and his strong belief in himself in an interview with Amazon Prime.

Both of those things are helpful. We think we're a great squad, and we have faith in our abilities. Tonight, against PSG, we demonstrated that. I did warn the lads that we need to make a bold statement whenever major teams visit the Emirates.

Saturday sees Arsenal's next league match, as they welcome 19th-place Southampton to their stadium.
