Bastien criticizes Arsenal star: "You don't learn from mistakes" (UNL)

The 2-1 UEFA Nations League victory for France over Belgium was marred by a lacklustre performance by defender William Saliba, according to football commentator Bastien Cheval.

Les Bleus won their third match in Group B of the Nations League on Monday with a 2-1 victory against Belgium.

Just before halftime, Lois Openda equalized after France took the lead via Randal Kolo Muani in the 35th minute.

In the 62nd minute, Kolo Muani scored the game-winning goal after a brief intermission.

In the 20th minute, Saliba fouled Lois Openda inside his own penalty area; otherwise, his performance against Belgium was unremarkable. Saliba is 23 years old.

The Arsenal player then allowed Openda to score an unopposed header after receiving a cross from Timothy Castagne.

"A disastrous first half from the Arsenal central defender," Cheval said via GiveMeSport.

"He failed to reflect on his previous errors when he set up the RB Leipzig center forward for an onside kick, which led to his equalizing goal.

He was later penalized for bringing Openda down in his penalty area. Uncertainty persisted into halftime.
